What a concert! The swift singers joined with Grammaticus and vocal and instrumental soloists in a festive extravaganza.
Our joint concert began with a joint performance of When a Child is Born, followed by three pieces by Grammaticus featuring Annie Chan as vocal soloist in All Through the Night. We then enjoyed an instumental solo by the talented young flautist, Tristan Reid. The swift singers then showed off their language skills, singing two pieces in latin followed by Ding Dong Merrily on High when a number of the audience were spotted singing along! An instrumental solo by Ben Kimberley on Cello led us to the culmination of the first half in a joint performance of the Military Wives’ Prayer with a vocal solo by Cathy Heaton.
The second half showcased the talents of Hilary Pell (Mezzo Soprano), Lawrence Barker (Baritone), Tim Carey (Piano), Andrew Wilson(Organ) and Clare Greenwood (Oboe/Cor Anglais) in an amazing performance of Nativity, composed by our Musical Director, Clive Smith and featuring words adapted by Irene Smith. Both choirs have worked tirelessly since September in preparing for this performance and all that practice certainly paid off. Many thanks to everyone who came along to support the choirs and soloists and for impressive audience participation.
