STANDING ROOM ONLY
The Swifts performed in Maldon United Reformed Church recently to an
appreciative audience and the concert was a sell out with standing room only.
What a fantastic evening. The weather was fine, refreshments were delicious and our voices were on top form!
For those who missed it, our songs included some new arrangements with
just a few old favourites and we were adventurous with a couple of them as they
were in foreign languages. A delightful French Round called ‘Beau Printemps’ and a Maori Love Song entitled ‘Pokarekare Ana’ made up the programme. Clive had his big chance at this concert – he took the singing role of ‘Jack’ in Hit The Road Jack – whether he will recover from his singing stardom and the applause, remains to be seen. The anniversary of the Titanic disaster prompted us to choose ‘My heart will go on’. All in all, a variety of singing was on offer.
Our enchanting special guest for the evening was Caroline Adomeit-Gadd
on the violin. Caroline is well known and popular on the European circuit and we were lucky to have this extremely talented young lady for our concert for the second year running. She can play anything and everything from Bach to Tango (coincidentally, that’s the title of her new CD!) She thrilled us with every single note and showed us she could dance as well! Don’t take my word for it – watch her on YouTube - youtube.com/user/bachtotango – it’s fantastic. We hope she will be available next year again to come and play for us – don’t miss it!
